Get your home in the “Ready Zone” before the State HEAR/HEEHR instant discounts go live in most of the nation
Phase 1: The “Envelope” Qualification (Required by DOE)
The Department of Energy [DOE] now requires your home to be properly sealed and insulated before you can claim your State HEAR/HEEHR instant discounts. If you haven’t done this, start here.
[ ] Documentation Audit: Do you have proof (receipts or energy reports) showing your insulation and air-sealing meet state-specified levels? (If yes, you are “Qualified”—file this in your “Rebate Folder”).
[ ] The “Leak Test”: If you don’t have proof, we will list here for you the specific requirements of your State and who to contact.
[ ] Seal the “Energy Thieves”: Prioritize attic hatches, rim joists, and duct sealing. These are the most common points of air infiltration that prevent a home from being “DOE-Approved.”
Phase 2: System Readiness (Heating, Cooling, & Water Heating)
Prepare your infrastructure now to ensure a seamless installation when the State energy portals open (or reopen by September 1, 2016 with the new rules).
[ ]Â Electrical Capacity Check:Â Does your main breaker panel have at least 50 amps of available space? (If not, Bax will help you also apply for the electrical panel/wiring HEAR/HEEHR instant discounts, up to $6,500).
[ ]Â Space & Drainage:
Heat Pump Water Heaters:Â Ensure you have 1,000 cubic feet of air space and a nearby condensate drain.
HVAC:Â Check for adequate return-air vent sizing.
[ ] Baseline Data: Gather your last 12 months of energy bills. You will likely need this “before” data to submit your rebate application to the State energy portal.
Phase 3: The “Early Bird” Strategy
[ ] Contractor Alignment: Reach out to Bax (contact form below) and have him checking for you which local installers participate in the State HEAR/HEEHR program and effectively will deduct your instant discount from their quote and invoice.“
[ ] The “Rebate Folder”: Create a dedicated folder (digital or physical) with your Property Tax ID, Utility Account Number, and Envelope Qualification Proof.
